Jose Mourinho will manage England against a Rest of the World team coached by Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri in an Old Trafford charity match in June, organisers have announced.
The two former Chelsea managers will face off in the sixth Soccer Aid event on June 5, to raise money for the children’s charity Unicef.
Mourinho, out of work since being sacked by Chelsea last December, will be assisted by Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce, with British pop star and Soccer Aid co-founder Robbie Williams also helping out.
“I want to be the first one to win the Soccer Aid trophy for both teams, England and the Rest of the World,” said Mourinho, who led the Rest of the World to a 4-2 victory in the 2014 match.
“Sam and I will make a very good partnership and it will be a great feeling for Claudio to finally lose a match! I hope the organisers can help me now with an English passport!”
Ranieri, whose Leicester team are on course for a fairytale English Premier League title win, said in a press release: “Soccer Aid is a fantastic event, raising money for an amazing children’s charity in Unicef.
“For Soccer Aid’s 10th anniversary, it is a great honour that Robbie Williams has asked me to manage the Rest of the World XI and I’m looking forward to helping them defend their title.”
