Man stabs ex-GF, then drives into a truck killing himself & toddler son in murder suicide case

A 28 year old man named Marco Velocci has left police stunned after he stabbed his ex-lover/childhood sweetheart Jodie Power, 26, before driving his car into a truck killing himself and his 3 year old son with Jodie, Alex James.

According to the Irish Mirror, the double tragedy was sparked by an earlier domestic row between Marco and Jodie at 8am on Tuesday July 19 in which she sustained stab wounds and a broken arm..

 

He then drove off in his Audi car with his son before the fatal crash, 1.8miles from Ms Power’s home.

Officers received a panicked phone call from a caller at Ms Power’s home, telling them that she had been stabbed, and her son had been taken from the house.

As paramedics were treating Ms Power’s wounds at her home, the bodies of her son, Alex James and Velocci were discovered in the carnage a short distance away. The truck driver wasn't injured but was treated for shock.

Paying tribute, his best friend Jonathan Ryan said: “He was a great man for gun dogs, fishing, hunting sports - they were our sports.

 “I was at work today... It took a few minutes before I realised it. He was the same age as myself, 28. He was the nicest person you could meet, so friendly and quiet.

“He was never in trouble with anyone, like guards or anyone like that. He just loved his dogs, and shooting and fishing.

“He was one of the nicest, kind hearted people you could meet.”

He added: “He loved his family... did everything for them.

“He was a good friend to all of us, always was.

"Good natured....he was taken too soon.

“The heart of the village goes out to the families.”
